What was the daftest thing you did as a kid?
When we were teenagers, my mate got his leg stuck in the railings at Beechwood Shopping Centre in Cheltenham. The fire brigade had to come and get him out while the whole town looked on. I think it might have even made the paper. It certainly made its way to school.
This was in the early 2000s, before you could take a semi-decent picture on a camera phone and way before Twitter and Facebook.
This is 2017, when you are obliged to take pictures of everything and upload all of them to every social media feed you have. That’s precisely what happened when 14-year-old Kaley from Louisiana, USA got a hammer stuck in her mouth.

The first thing to say is that Kaley is fine; she managed to get the hammer out after about 10 minutes of shimmying and jimmying.
Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Kaley explained that she was a little “hyper” when talking to a friend about one of her favourite bands.
“I was sending her pictures of one of them, [and] he’s good-looking,” she said. “So I sent it and said, ‘He’s so beautiful I could shove a hammer in my mouth.’”
And so she did.
“It was a little too big to fit in my mouth in the first place, but getting it out was even more of a problem,” Kaley told BuzzFeed News.
It’s easy to mock teenagers for doing stupid things, but let us never forget that a grown man once punched a horse after a football match, which is about 1,000 times stupider than almost anything else.
Kaley has now learned a valuable lesson, one that she probably never expected to learn: hammers don’t go in mouths.
