Ireland’s best burrito restaurant has been named, and we’re already planning a road trip

We're not drooling. YOU'RE DROOLING!

Nom nommy nom nom.

The Just Eat Awards took place this week, and we have been hungry pretty much non-stop off the back of reading about all of the delicious nominees and, now, the most delicious winners.

You’ll recall we already waxed lyrical about the winner of the Best Spicebag in Ireland (which you can read all about here), but that really is more of a night-time, sitting in, watching Netflix food.

What about people who are hungry during the day?

While the full list of winners (which you can read here) also featured the likes of Best Healthy Takeaway, Best Lunchtime Takeaway, Best Salad Takeaway – all decent entries in for your mid-day eating schedule – we know you.

We know you because we are you, and we want to know who won the Best Burrito Award.

Now, here’s the thing: there actually wasn’t a Best Burrito Award.

There was a Best Spicebag Award, a Best Pizza Award, a Best Curry Award, but Burritos – as of yet – do not have their own category.

Having said that, there was a Best Mexican Takeaway Award, and those nominations were as follows:

Tolteca, 38 Baggot Street Upper, Dublin 4

Zambrero, Station Building, Hatch Street Upper, Saint Kevin’s, Dublin

Burrito Loco, Unit 2 Port Centre, Port Road, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal

Boojum, Kevin Street Lower, Dublin 8

Amigo, 20 Michael St, Waterford

That award went to Boojum in Dublin 8.

However, the winner of Best Lunchtime Takeaway Award, as well as Best Ulster Takeaway, and the prestigious Best Takeaway in Ireland award, went to Burrito Loco in County Donegal.

So, technically, while there was no specific Best Burrito Award, we can say that these two burrito specialists are the best in Ireland. Congrats!
