National Geographic announce their 25 best trips to take in 2020

Rory Cashin

If you’re looking for some travel inspiration next year, look no further.

When we get into the depths of winter (like we’re going to be in this coming week), you can’t help but think about escaping to somewhere else.

Maybe you want to lean into and find the best Christmas markets in the world (in which case we recommend you read this), but if you’re looking for 2020 holiday inspiration, then obviously we’re going to trust National Geographic.

The folk behind covering every square inch of the world, from barely populated corners you’ve never heard of, to rediscovering well-known towns and cities for brand new reasons, National Geographic have revealed their 25 best trips to take in 2020.

Anyone concerned that the list is just going to full of destinations that will involve multiple long-haul flights can rest easy, as while there are plenty of spots all around the globe, Irish holiday-makers can make the most of the list with short hops to the likes of Spain, Poland, Italy, and even Wales.

Here is their list in full:

  • Guizhou Province, China
  • Tohoku, Japan
  • National Blue Trail, Hungary
  • Telč, Czechia
  • Magdalen Islands, Canada
  • Wales Way, United Kingdom
