The CAO deadline is today... here's what you need to know about swapping choices
The CAO deadline is today (Sunday July 1).
That means those who just finished their Leaving Cert and are aspiring to go to college will have until today to pick and swap their course choices.
We all know it can be a stressful time, but now that the Leaving Cert is over (thank Christ), things have most likely calmed down.
However, even if you panicked a little in that exam, try not to jump ahead of yourself and assume the worst. Still reach for the stars in what you want to do in life, and fingers crossed everything will work out with the CAO.
Guidance Counsellor and Educational Columnist, Brian Mooney explained to TodayFM: "The CAO application process closes at 5.15pm, that means that you can change any aspect of you course choices up to 5.15 but I would advise you to so well in advance of that time to allow for any technological hitches.
"Whatever list of courses is on your record at that time are the course that the CAO will use to offer to you over the coming months."
So, just a few things to note:
- Deadline closes at 5.15pm today
- By submitting a CAO Change of Mind, the system automatically cancels “all the previous course choices in any category in which changes are made” CAO.ie . However, the two course categories of Level 8 and Level 7/6 are treated separately. Changing a Level 8 course only effects other Level 8’s and vice versa.
- Ensure all courses you choose are in order before resubmitting.
