Crying at the Nutty Professor & bad habits: JOE spins the Tombola of Truth with Jordi Murphy

"I think they put us together so we can share hair gel"

Joe Harrington

“I got a bit emotional at the end of the Nutty Professor.”

Next up on the JOE Tombola of Truth is Ireland and Leinster rugby player Jordi Murphy.

How it works; the JOE team has come up with 50 questions which are conveniently numbered 1-50.

We ask the interviewees to pick a number, and depending on which one is pulled out, we ask the corresponding question.

JOE: Can you name more that fifteen characters in The Simpsons?

Jordi: I’m not a huge fan, but if it’s on the telly I’ll watch it. No way could I name fifteen of them though.

JOE: Graham Norton or Jimmy Fallon?

Jordi: Graham Norton.

JOE: Who was your first crush growing up?

Jordi: Britney Spears. I think it started once I saw that Hit Me Baby One More Time video.

JOE: On a scale of one (Pierce Brosnan) to ten (Daithi O’Se), how Irish is your accent?

Jordi: Two.

JOE: A film that you’ve seen more than once?

Jordi: The Shawshank Redemption.

JOE: What’s your worst habit?

Jordi: It has to be having a messy room, it sometimes gets to the point where if it’s not cleaned, it’s unlivable.

I share with Ian Madigan a lot when we’re away. I think they put us together so we can share hair gel though.

JOE: Have you ever spent a night in prison?

Jordi: I spent a few hours, but not a night. It was after a few too many drinks, but it was nothing too serious.

JOE: If you could send one person to the moon, who would it be?

Jordi: If they can’t come back, Brendan Macken.

JOE: What’s your karaoke song of choice?

Jordi: A very bad version of Don’t Stop Believin’.

JOE: What’s the best music gig you’ve ever been to?

Jordi: I went to Eminem in Slane about two years ago, that was brilliant.

JOE: Do you think there’s life on other planet?

Jordi: [Laughs] Yeah, I’d like to think so. Sure when Brendan Macken is up on the moon he can find out for us.

JOE: In terms of takeaways, Indian or Chinese?

Jordi: Neither, I prefer Thai food. I’m a fan of Singapore noodles.

JOE: The best/worst chat-up line you’ve ever used or heard?

Jordi: I actually can’t think of a cheesy one now plus there are loads of people here in the car with me so it’d be very embarrassing to say one anyway.

JOE: When was the last time you cried?

Jordi: I got a bit emotional at the end of the Nutty Professor.

I welled up at scene when he was getting slagged for being fat, I think I was just in an emotional mood that day.

JOE: Three things you always take on holiday?

Jordi: Phone, laptop and some form of book.

JOE: What’s your protocol with the snooze button in the morning?

Jordi: I hit it three times max.

JOE: Blur or Oasis?

Jordi: Oasis.

JOE: Would you rather a hundred duck-size horses or one horse-size duck?

Jordi: A hundred duck-size horse. Yeah, there might be loads of them but you can boot them away easily.
