“The rumours are true…”

Iconic Galway nightclub Electric, which shut down just over two years ago, will seemingly make a comeback in 2024. The venue was multi-purpose, with an arcade bar, rooftop garden, clubbing, and event space.

The good news comes from Create Real Estate, who shared it on their Instagram page, saying:

“The rumours are true….. Electric is back!!! Those of us who are old enough to remember it as CP’s all have fond memories of this much-loved Galway institution…! Create Real Estate are delighted to have put this off market letting together over the last few months. Best of luck to James and the team – due to open early in the New Year.”

After 30 long years in business, Electric announced their closure, along with Halo, and all of their associated businesses, on November 25th, 2021. The toll of the pandemic, and “over six hundred days of complete closure” was what ultimately resulted in this decision being made.

The update stated the following:

We hope that this house will continue as a place for dancing and find a new owner with the same enthusiasm for bringing people together. Even though we may not be the ones to reap the rewards, we hope a brighter future lies ahead for Irish nightclubs.”

Galway locals were devastated by the news, with the club opening in the 1990s and being much loved by residents and tourists alike.

The owners have yet to make a statement on the reopening of Electric, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for it. Create Real Estate says it should happen soon after the New Year.
