Five of the most expensive car crashes

If there’s something we’ll never get tired of, it’s looking at the inside of super cars after their owners, who have more money than sense, total them.

Here are five of the most expensive car crashes that we’ve ever seen. Be warned, they involve lots of super cars.

Nurburgring fiasco

The Nurburgring is the quintessential mecca for petrol and diesel heads alike. However, from time to time a driver may feel a bit peeved that a much better driver in a much crappier car has overtaken his super fast high-powered beast. That’s when egos flare up and accidents happen. Now we’re not saying that’s what happened here when a driver managed to cause two separate collisions within meters of each other, but it just goes to show, even on the safe confides of a race track, your beloved super car is never safe. The main image above shows the carnage that resulted from the eight-car crash. The total damage was estimated at €150,000.

Wedding crasher

This bloke obviously took the term wedding crasher a tad too literally when he wrapped this Lamborghini Gallardo around a fence while on the way to a wedding. The worst part of the whole scenario was the fact that the driver was late to the wedding… and also the fact that it was actually his wedding.

The groom in question lost control of the rented Lambo a few miles away from the church, but don’t worry you big hopeless romantic you. The groom pulled out his best Usain Bolt impression and made it to the church on time, by foot. Pity the car was a “write off” though. Total damage est. €200,000.

Drunk in Deutschland

A drunk driver in Germany managed to crash into two very nice (and fairly rare) Porsches resulting in, as the German police said, “the total economic loss of all three vehicles” – how very German? The drunk driver in question was on his way to meet with friends when he crashed head on with the Porsche GT3 Mk-II, which sent him into a skid and into the side of the Porsche GT3 RS 4.0. It’s estimated that the crash cost around €250,000 worth of damage, plus the drunk lost his license.

The Blonde Bentley bimbo

Not to stereotype anyone in particular, but blonde women over the age of 30 who can afford to go to Monte Carlo “for the weekend” and drive cars worth more than most peoples houses, never seem to gel well with vehicles. Sadly, that was the case here, as a middle-aged blonde managed to wedge her Bentley Azure (worth €285,000) in between a Mercedes, a Ferrari, an Aston Martin and a Porsche outside the Monte Carlo casino. Did we mention she parked a bit close? The total damage estimated at the scene was €780,000.

Japanese motorway pile-up

There’s nothing like going for a leisurely drive on a Sunday morning with a friend or two. However, going for a drive with your 13 mates in eight Ferraris, three Mercedes Benz and a Lamborghini while hitting 50mph above the speed limit is just asking for trouble. That trouble ended up finding these young lads in Japan who managed to cause what is possibly the most expensive car crash ever. The total est. damage caused in the crash was around £2,500,000 (or €3,000,000). Mainly because all of the cars were write offs.
