Glenda Gilson and Andrew Stanley launch the new #BigBrotherBigSister Campaign

Get involved

Joe Harrington

One of the best initiatives in the country.

If you spotted TV presenter Glenda Gilson and comedian Andrew Stanley in a bumper car on Sandymount beach last week, we can explain what was going on.

The pair were taking some press photos for the launch of the new Foróige #BigBrotherBigSister campaign.

The campaign aims to support young people from the age 10 to 18, by pairing them up with someone who takes on the role of a big brother or sister.

In that role, you offer advice, guidance and friendship to the young kids who are going through those confusing and sometimes scary formative years.

Volunteers are asked to give up just two hours per week on average and the time and can be spent watching a movie, kicking football in the park or playing pool.

It’s a really worthwhile initiative to get involved it and for further information on how to register as a volunteer, click on www.foroige.ie/bbbs.
