We live in one of the most scenic countries in the world so it’s about time we stepped outdoors to take in some of the great sights and countryside on offer… by stuffing our face with sandwiches and packets of crips.

Picnics are a great way to get out and soak in the few hours of sunshine we have each year with your family and friends, and while you may also get another kind of soaked by a passing shower, it’s a risk well worth taking.

Especially when getting wet or stung by a wasp is the greatest risk involved…

Potato and crisp farmers Keogh’s Farm have compiled a list of the best picnic destinations in Ireland so that if those few precious hours of summer sun come knocking, you can be right out the door with your precious wicker basket under one arm.

The number one destination for picnics in Ireland is?

Located in Dublin City, the Phoenix Park has topped the polls with 12% claiming it to be the best spot in Ireland for a picnic.

But interestingly for all you lovebirds out there, Glendalough, Co. Wicklow has been voted the most romantic place to go for a picnic in Ireland and is guaranteed to earn you some serious brownie points.

But if it’s beautiful views you’re looking for along with your plastic bottles of tea and bee stings, the Giant’s Causeway in Antrim is the most scenic picnic location in Ireland according to the survey.
