Mazda is offering the Irish public a chance to have some fun and design a new paint decal for Team Ireland’s MX-5 Race Car.

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Mazda MX-5. As part of the celebrations, Mazda Ireland has created an online design competition. The overall winner will have their design carried on Team Ireland’s car at next year’s European MX-5 Open Race.

It’s simple to enter – click on www.designMX-5.ie for the chance to see your design come alive on a race track.

Mazda is offering a raft of prizes including the chance to experience the MX-5 Race Car at Mondello Park Motor Racing School, an Appleâ„¢ MacBook and vouchers for Appleâ„¢ products.

The Mazda MX-5 representing Team Ireland has been modified to maximise performance on track. All excess weight has been removed from the 2.0L (163ps) soft top MX-5. The driver sits in a carbon fibre racing seat and is cocooned for safety by a FIA Roll cage and 6-point harness. The sport suspension can be quickly adjusted to meet the challenges of the track, while the MX-5 grips tenaciously through each corner with slick tyres.

Listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s best selling two-seat sports, car, nearly a million people around the world have discovered what makes this car so special.

To honour the iconic Mazda MX-5, Mazda held a European Open Race in February 2010. Thirty cars representing EU nations competed in a four-hour Endurance Race. Team Ireland’s Mazda MX-5 will proudly display the winning design at next year’s Open Race.
