The new BMW 5 Series engine line-up has been completed with the arrival of the two-litre engine variant 520d in Irish BMW Dealerships.

The new entry level model has a recommended retail price of €41,750 and joins the four powerful petrol engines, the 523i, 528i, 535i and 550i, as well as two diesel powerplants, the 525d and the 530d on the market.

Michael Nugent, Director, Sales & Marketing at BMW Ireland says: “The new BMW 5 Series Saloon is ideal for the Irish market and is proving to be a big hit with the Irish motorist.

“Since launch, we experienced a huge demand for this vehicle and we also received very positive feedback from our customers and the motoring press. We believe the BMW 520d now offers the best value in its segment due to the new model’s exceptional fuel efficiency, CO2 emissions, drive experience, aesthetics and residual values”.

The new, 184hp 4-cylinder model comes with a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmissions and features exceptionally low fuel consumption figures of 4.9 l/100km. Emissions of only 129 g/km ensures it falls into road tax band B and road tax costs only €156 per year.

“We believe the new BMW 5 Series offers customers more than the competition in every area of the purchasing and ownership experience.  We equipped and priced all models extremely competitively and we expect to see excellent residual values which will further lower the cost of ownership. Buyers are now more aware of the whole-of-life costs of vehicles, and it is this we have concentrated on,” says Nugent.
