Pic: Here’s how Irish people rank in terms of their life satisfaction when compared to Europe

We're relatively happy it seems.

Paul Moore

We’re relatively happy it seems.

It may be a random topic, but we’ve frequently wondered just how happy Irish people are when compared to our neighbours in Europe.

We’ve decided to be dramatic and make a list of just some of the pros and cons of being born in the 32 counties.

Pro: Sport, Guinness, Cadbury’s, craic, family, democracy, Tayto, everyone loves us.

Con: Wet rain, damp rain, the rain that gets into your bones, the wind and Catholic guilt.

There’s lots more stuff that comes to mind but it’s impossible to articulate them just now.

The nice people at Eurostat have recently conducted a survey among people living across the European Union and the results show just how happy Irish people are with their lives when compared to Europe.

On a scale of 1-0, and within the specific age-groups, here’s how we rank.

EUHappySurvey

It seems that the happiest people in Ireland are between the ages of 65-74 while the least happy people are 35-42 year olds.

Overall we’re not too sad with our lives as a nation but it seems that people living in Sweden, Holland, Denmark, Austria, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland are all having more craic.

Yeah, but they can’t get a decent pint of Guinness or a bag of Tayto?
