You’ve probably seen the iconic ‘Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima’ image from World War II before, but you’ve certainly never seen it like this.
The Swim Team at the US Naval Academy obviously wanted to make a big splash with their team photo for the 2013/14 team picture and they certainly managed that by taking to the water for their own take on an image that is one of the most recognised of all time and not just in America either.

To recreate it accurately is one thing, but to do so underwater is an achievement on another scale and while they’ve got the actual raising of the flag part down to a tee, we can’t remember any soldiers standing either side of the flag just looking macho in the original image.
It’s still pretty cool though, we think you’ll agree.
