The new film knocks Toy Story 2 off the top spot.

Internationally acclaimed actress Saoirse Ronan’s most recent performance has apparently blown the roof off of what was once deemed great as her latest film Lady Bird, has just recently been awarded a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

This honour, tallied by the esteemed film site’s method of rating, is shared by several other films, such as Singin’ In The Rain, Laura and The Philadelphia Story. What sets it aside from its predecessor of Toy Story 2, is a 100% rating, with 170 positive reviews, as opposed to Toy Story’s 163.

This is the first time since 1999 John Lasseter’s computer-animated-comedy that a new movie has taken the top spot.

The film, released earlier this month in the US, is a coming-of-age story about high-school senior Christine ”Lady Bird” McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) and her turbulent relationship with her mother (Laurie Metcalf). It follows McPherson on her path to losing her virginity before heading to an out-of-state university.

The film has been generating Oscar hype for Ronan, who took home the Best Actress award for her role at the IFP Gotham Awards on Monday night. Upon receiving the award, Saoirse dedicated it to “the two women who mean so much to me,” referencing her mother and director Greta Gerwig.

“We put our heart and souls into this movie, and the last step of this deeply collaborative art form of filmmaking is giving the film to the audience and the film critics,” Gerwig said.

Lady Bird is set to hit Irish and UK cinemas in February 2018.
