It’s 20 years on, and people are still deeply impacted by the murder of Veronica Guerin.
On Monday night, RTÉ reflected on the life of Veronica Guerin; The Sunday Independent journalist who was shot and killed in her car in the midst of the gangland violence she was reporting on in 1996.
Veronica Guerin: A Legacy looked backed on the distinguished and brave career of a much loved and publicised journalist, with passionate contributions from her husband Graham and son Cathal along the way.
The documentary also analysed the current gangland crisis in the country which, despite the establishment of the Criminal Assets Bureau in the aftermath of Guerin’s murder, is at peak levels.
It was a must-watch programme, with an extremely positive reaction garnered throughout by people watching.

Veronica Guerin is still an inspiration to women the world over. Contributor basically alluded she would not be dead were she not a woman.
