Stuck for Valentine’s Day ideas? Why not try painting over a pint

Michael Lanigan

Painting and pints, is there a better combination?

If all of the suggestions for a suitable Valentine’s Day activity have been getting you a bit jaded already, going for a “paint night” in the pub might just be the original alternative to get you excited again.

Paint by the Pints is described as a “no experience required” event, which encourages mainly single people to “mingle” and paint the night away in McGowan’s Pub, located in Phibsborough, Dublin.

“We supply all the material, a free pint on us, and no experience required. Paint by the Pins is a fun filled evening where guests are guided step-by-step through creating their masterpiece. Don’t worry if you haven’t painted since primary school- that’s the fun of the event.”

The trend of paint nights has essentially taken most major cities by storm, so on 13 and 14 February they’ll be winning over Dublin too, enabling one and all to recreate the ‘I Choo-Choo-Choose You’ moment from the Simpsons.

Tickets for 13 February are almost gone, but Paint by the Pints have added a second night on 14 February to accommodate the demand.

Plus, for every canvas completed at these events, €1 will be donated to the art supplies fund for the non-profit organisation Children in Hospital, Ireland.

How’s about that? You can paint, get a date and give to charity all at once. It’s a way better idea than going over to Whitefriar Church to see St. Valentine’s remains.
