We wonder if this car would pass the NCT.

The JOE mobile has taken many a battering over the years but we still maintain that our trusty Lada 1500 can get us to Semple Stadium, the Gaelic Grounds or Pearse Stadium in one piece.

All our trusted motor has had done to it, in terms of repair work over the years, is four new tires, a new engine, various paint jobs and a replacement door. It’s still the same car though, right?

We’ve frequently heard Marty Morrissey and Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh in commentary say that the likes of Henry Shefflin, Lar Corbett and Joe Canning have ‘brilliant control’, ‘the ability to effortlessly switch speeds’ and ‘the know-how to change gears’ in those Championship weeks.

We’re also sure that none of those All Stars have used their hurls quite like JOE reader Ross Quinn did.

Take a look at his genius improvisation in resolving this broken gearstick dilemma.
