Video: Skier’s brilliant first-person ski run through a mountain ridge is absolutely breath-taking

This man deserves his award and probably a hug to go with it…

This man deserves his award and probably a hug to go with it…

Playing rugby without a gumshield (once) is as about as extreme as it gets for us here in JOE Towers, but we would love to complete some of the audacious and ridiculous feats that are sent into us on a daily basis.

Cody Townsend was awarded ‘Ski line of the year’ in Powder magazine for this amazing ski through the couloir (we Googled it, it means a narrow gully, apparently) of a mountain and we have to say that on further inspection, he fully deserves his award.

Cody is a professional skier and as you can see in the video, even he is a tad fearful as he stands at the top of the couloir preparing to go.

At this stage, we were frantically hoping he would call it off because we really thought *bad pun alert* that he was on a slippery slope…

But he went ahead and produced this piece of incredible footage…

The speed he racks up as he descends through the gully is alarming and one false move would surely have spelt serious injury or even death but thankfully the run was a success and the only thing that was damaged was his underwear, which had to be thrown out afterwards…
