Video: This Brazilian woman has a level of spoken Gaelic that’s absolutely astounding

Bualadh Bos.

In the interest of full disclosure, this writer has always struggled when it comes to learning Irish in school because despite my best efforts our lovely language never seemed to stick with me.

That B in my Leaving Cert was probably harder to achieve than getting Jennifer Lawrence’s hand in marriage.

I’d wager though that a Brazilian girl named Natália Danzmann is able to put a large amount of Irish people, just like me, to shame when it comes to their levels of spoken Gaelic.

This interview, conducted as Gaelige with Tuairisc, is simply incredible because she reveals that her love of Irish was inspired by listening to traditional music as a child and that she decided to learn the language simply for the craic.

What’s truly remarkable is that Natália feels much more comfortable speaking a few cúpla focal as Gaelige than she would be in English.

Maith an cailín.
