Wednesday tattoo fail goes viral because it looks more like Samuel L. Jackson than Jenna Ortega

Fans of the Netflix show Wednesday were no doubt celebrating Friday amid reports the show was set for a second season. However, one super fan is getting rinsed for taking his appreciation for the Addams Family reboot skin deep, with an odd-looking Wednesday tattoo.

The fan got a tattoo of the lead character, Jenna Ortega, well, what they thought to be her, as some viewers think it looks more like a mix  of Samuel L. Jackson and Gollum from The Lord of the Rings.

Wednesday is now one of the most successful series ever on Netflix. It ranks #2 on the Most Popular (English) TV list with 1.237 Billion hours viewed within its first 28 days. Over 182 million households have watched the series since it first made its debut on the streaming series in November, earning Ortega a Golden Globe nomination.

Netflix reported that the series has shattered its record for most hours viewed for an English-language show in a single week with over 50 million households viewing it for 341.23 million hours.

So while viewers have been very well acquainted with Wednesday, it doesn’t seem like the tattoo artist responsible for this portrait had been paying much attention.

Twitter users were quick to slam the new ink, with one writing, “I would amputate whatever part of the body that is.”

A second chimed in with, “When you get a pre-production tattoo of Wednesday Addams, after hearing Samuel L. Jackson is being considered for the lead.”

A third wrote, “That tattoo of Samuel Wednesday Addams is a jump scare every time I see it in a scroll.”

Some Twitter users are saying the artwork looks more like Jackson, Gollum, Steve O, and comedian Gram M, rather than Ortega, Decider reported.

Others are delivering jokes related to the series, saying that character in the tattoo “looks more like Gomez” or is another day of the week, such as “Wednesday’s Cousin, Monday“.

Under the direction of Tim Burton, Wednesday takes place at Nevermore Academy and follows Ortega as she tries to master her psychic abilities, thwart a killing speed and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago.

Netflix confirmed the show is returning for a second season, earlier this week.

In an exclusive interview with Tudum, Creators/Showrunners/Executive Producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said: “It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world. Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two.

“We can’t wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”
