Getting a taxi after a night on the town can be quite the task at times, but how about coming across a horse and riding home on horseback?
Ronald Temprell will now have to complete a 12-month community payback order after being sentenced at Alloa Sheriff Court for stealing the horse after a night out to make the two and a half mile journey home that bit quicker.
Walking home with his two mates, they saw horses in a field and saw their opportunity. He saddled up the horse – quite the feat at that time of night – and slowly walked with his two comrades beside him, with neighbours alerted by the hooves on the road.
“I wanted to get home, but I’m not going to bump a taxi, so we were walking and came across the horses. As I knew about how to get the stuff on, I just started to saddle it up,” he told The Metro.
“It took me about an hour and a half. I could probably do it faster when I’m sober.”
Temprell told the court he fell in love with horses after watching Black Beauty – how original – and said that his endeavours have earned him a very creative nickname.
“People used to call me Rocket Ronnie but they are calling me Frankie Dettori now.” Ah, we get it.
Hopefully Temprell will live a more stable life after this experience and ignore all the neigh-sayers.
