Irish motorist has car seized by Gardaí, friend shows up and has car seized for very same reason

Not the wisest move on the part of this particular motorist.

The Garda Traffic Corps have their work cut out policing highways and byways throughout the country, so no doubt they appreciate it when motorists who deserve to be disciplined inadvertently present themselves for arrest.

That doesn’t happen very often, of course, but it did happen in Dundalk this week when a motorist with no insurance on their vehicle presented themselves at a scene where a friend had just had a vehicle seized… for having no insurance.

Yep, you read that right.

Why the motorist didn’t seem alarmed about being in the presence of Gardaí despite being guilty of the very same offence as their friend we have no idea, but pretty soon they too had their car seized and the Gardaí had landed on two crimes for the price of one.

An Garda Síochána posted details of the incident in question on their Twitter account on Tuesday, with an image of the seized vehicles and some textbook Who Wants to be a Millionaire references for good measure.

We’re not aware of any awards for Ireland’s dumbest criminals, but the guilty party in this case would surely be right up there.
