And they would have gotten away with the u-turns too… if it wasn’t for a pesky awaiting unit.

Gardaí in Waterford intercepted five vehicles who pulled u-turns in an effort to avoid a Garda checkpoint in the space of 40 minutes on Tuesday.

A picture of one of the offending cars was posted on the An Garda Síochána Twitter account on Tuesday, which revealed that all five cars that had pulled u-turns were subsequently intercepted by an awaiting unit from the Waterford Traffic Corps.

Whether or not any of the motorists involved were convicted of any offences was not disclosed by the Gardaí, but it’s fairly safe to say they lived to regret the impulsive decision to try and avoid the checkpoint afterwards.

Something to bear in mind if you’re ever thinking of doing likewise in the future… don’t.
