Learner driver cautioned by Gardaí for comical misplacement of ‘L’ plate

The problem must have literally been staring them in the face.

Learner drivers have a lot to take in and bear in mind when they first get behind the wheel.

Navigating roundabouts, checking mirrors and being aware of other road users are just some of the most basic things to take into account, but before all that, they have to ensure that ‘L’ plates are displayed on the car they’re driving before hitting the road.

One would assume that most motorists know where on their vehicle to correctly place said ‘L’ plates, but judging by a post on the Garda Twitter account this week, that’s obviously not the case.

Apparently, the driver of the Nissan in the picture below “couldn’t see” the problem with the positioning of the L plate; chances are they probably “couldn’t see” what was going on in front of them considering that it looks like it would have a fairly significant impact on a driver’s line of vision.

The driver was issued with a caution by Gardaí; fingers crossed they’ll learn their lesson and won’t have any need for the ‘L’ plate in the near future, let alone right in front of their eyes.
