Has your car made the list?

A report carried out by DoneDeal.ie has revealed the five most valuable models of car sold in Ireland.

The report carried out depreciation analysis on used cars to identify the top five makes and models which have retained their value the most from when they were new in 2014/2015.

And we know you’re probably thinking: “Just tell me whether or not my car is on the list.”

Well, we’ll do that now.

The car that retained its value the most was the Skoda Octavia with an average depreciation of 31% since 2014/2015.

So if you’re a Skoda Octavia owner, you can go into work this morning with a smug face ready to tell all of your coworkers that you commuted in the most valuable car in Ireland…

You won’t technically be lying.

Next was the Volkswagen Golf, followed by the Nissan Qashqai, Volkswagen Passat and the Ford Focus.

The most popular make of car in 2018 to date was Volkswagen, with 48,166 of them changing hands in the used car market.

Toyota came in at second, with Ford, Nissan and Audi rounding out the top five.

The survey also showed that the number of used cars being sold in the country is down 5% year-on-year. A total of 483,152 used cars switched owners in this year, compared to 507,300 in the same period in 2017.
