Despite some heavy setbacks this year, Netflix still has more weight of influence than most.
Looking back over the last 12 months, Netflix has had one hell of a 2022.
Since we are coming to the end of the year, we're taking stock of some of the biggest stories of the year, and for this piece, we've focused solely on the movies and TV stories of the year.

10. Spielberg's follow-up to Band Of Brothers has an incredibly strong Irish connection
This will be a must-watch for fans of Saving Private Ryan and The Pacific. Starring Barry Keoghan, Fionn O'Shea (Normal People) and Anthony Boyle (Derry Girls), as well as Austin Butler (Elvis) and Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts). The epic new war series is rumoured to arrive on Apple TV+ some time in 2023.

2. Netflix has just made its first ever adults-only movie
Back when this was first announced, we imagined this movie would get A LOT of people talking. One of the hottest young starts in the world, working with one of the most interesting directors in Hollywood, adapting one of the most controversial "biographies" of the decade, AND Netflix were aiming for adults-only with the finished product.
When the movie did finally arrive, it felt as if all interest in it evaporated immediately, but that anticipation ahead of its release was on another level.

Leaving the best 'til last, this recent entry shot straight to the top of our most-read charts, thanks to a mix of captive audiences (everyone is stuck indoors over the Xmas break, desperate for stuff to watch), the Irish audience's absolute love for all things true-crime documentaries, and the fact that the movie itself is absolutely brilliant.
