They need participants and you’re bound to know someone interested.

While certain people might define reality TV as escapist and something that can be categorised as ‘light entertainment’, a new reality TV show airing on Virgin Media Television is tapping into a very harsh reality, the rental market in Ireland.

And the production company behind the show, Kite Entertainment, need people to take part, which is why they’re on the hunt for older homeowners and young renters to participate in a brand new TV show.

If you’re an older homeowner in need of some company and help around the house, or a young renter struggling with finances due to the rental market, this new show could be perfect.

Over the spring and early summer, Kite Entertainment, (the people behind Ireland’s Fittest Family, Gogglebox Ireland, Who Do You Think You Are? and Ireland’s Got Talent), are filming a brand new TV series which revolves around an intergenerational living experiment.

Essentially, they’re looking to match older homeowners with younger renters for a unique home-sharing experience.

In doing so, the producers hope to create a snapshot of what life is really like for people at both ends of the housing spectrum.

For the homeowner, it’s a chance to combat the everyday loneliness of living in an empty house. For the renter, it’s a chance to live rent-free and alleviate some financial pressure. All prospective tenants have to do is be generous with their time and help with some household chores.

These newly-paired housemates will then live together for two weeks, spending time together and getting the chance to see things from a different perspective.

At the end of the two-week experiment, they will each decide if they’d be willing to give it a go long term.

Right now, the producers are looking for homeowners over the age of 65 and prospective renters over the age of 21 to take part.

If you’re interested in participating – or if you know somebody who might be – the relevant email address is [email protected].

The producers can also be reached at 01 5611 692 or 085 826 3439.

Best of luck with the application.
