Looking for a great new show? You’ve found it.

Netflix has created some epic original series in the shape of House of Cards and Daredevil, however, their new offering could be the best yet.

Pablo Escobar was one of the most notorious drug kingpins in history after building a cocaine empire in his native Colombia in the 70s, 80s and early 90s.

The story of his rise to power is incredible and the new Netflix Original Series Narcoswhich is available on Netflix right now, gets right to the pulse of it from start to finish.

We sat down to watch it and were addicted after the first 20 minutes, here are seven things we absolutely loved about it.

1. Wagner Moura

Wagner Moura plays Pablo Escobar and his performance is absolutely sensational.

His ability to turn from ice to fire and back to ice again is terrifying in parts and he’s just so convincing as the Colombian kingpin.

He’s highly acclaimed in his native Brazil and this role should catapult him to prominence on this side of the world.

2. It gives a real insight in the history of drug trafficking

Escobar’s reign is one of the most significant in terms of the impact cocaine has had on modern day society.

The show is action-packed and tense, but we found ourselves being constantly surprised by the nuggets of information about what sort of character Escobar was along the way.

3. Stephanie Sigman

The actress, who was nominated for a Dublin Film Critics’ Circle Award in 2011, plays fiesty journalist Valeria Velez.

Her volatile and sexually-loaded scenes with Escobar are standouts in every episode. (Fun fact: she’s been cast in the next Bond movie).

4. Steve Murphy’s Voice

The show’s narrator is DEA agent Steve Murphy, who’s also one of the main characters, and his voice is as smooth as velvet.

Despite the name, he doesn’t have a Wicklow accent, he’s from the deep south in the States and his voice is just so cool.

A good narrator is so important and you’ll understand why we rate this boy so highly when you hear him.

5. You feel like you’re fully experiencing life in 1980s Colombia

Pablo Escobar built his wealth and empire in Medellín in Colombia and the makers do a brilliant job in making you feel like you’re right there at that time.

The characters, the cars, the clothes and impeccable sets in the jungle and cities of Colombia makes it feel so authentic.

6. Stunning breakout acting performances

The actors in the series aren’t well-known and we like that because you don’t have the problem of trying to accept a certain actor in a role because he/she is synonymous with another show or movie.

It also puts more of a spotlight on the actual story, but we imagine a lot of these guys and girls will be household names in the near future.

7. The archive footage

The most amazing thing about Narcos is that it actually happened. Yeah it’s hard to believe when you’re watching it but it’s based on true events.

The amount of real archive footage that weaves in and out of the show adds a really special element to the whole experience.
