A funny Ireland-set comedy is airing on TV tonight

Our TV movie pick for Tuesday evening (5 March) is Animals, the Dublin-set comedy-drama released in 2019.

Based on the novel of the same name by Emma Jane Unsworth, it revolves around two hard-partying best friends (Holiday Grainger and Alia Shawkat) living in the Irish capital whose relationship changes after one of them becomes engaged to a teetotaller.

Animals’ charismatic lead performances, stylish direction and energetic depiction of life in Dublin city led to the film scoring an impressive 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film is airing on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning on Film4 at 1.15am.

Animals is also available to rent on Apple TV, Curzon, Google Play, Rakuten TV and the Sky Store.

Robert the Bruce – Legend – 9pm

A sequel to Braveheart with Angus Macfadyen reprising his role as the Scottish king.

The King’s Speech – Sky Showcase – 10pm

The Oscar Best Picture winner which details how King George VI (Colin Firth, also honoured by the Academy Awards for his performance) overcame his stammer.

Other People’s Children – Film4 – 11.10pm

This French family drama has a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Green Book – BBC Two – 11.15pm

Mahershala Ali is pianist Don Shirley and Viggo Mortensen is the bodyguard assigned to protect him as the musician tours the Deep South in the ’60s in this other Oscar Best Picture winner.
