Fans of Britain's Got Talent claimed that scenes featuring Ant McPartlin were cut from the first episode in the new series of the show on Saturday night. Although McPartlin is currently in rehab, the show's audition stage was filmed prior to his arrest for drink-driving last month. However, despite Ant and Dec being reunited on-screen for the first time since the incident, viewers on social media accused the show's producers of "editing out" Ant McPartlin "as much as possible". The criticism was particularly focused on the apparent removal of the Geordie duo's usual interviews with contestants. Here's a sample of what people had to say on social media: https://twitter.com/Tommo1965/status/985237548938166272 https://twitter.com/Spampoodle/status/985236406095237122 https://twitter.com/nats_118/status/985234674820829184 https://twitter.com/loader_luver/status/985234218937671681 Elsewhere in the show, Ant and the show's judges were seen breaking down in tears after magician Marc Spelmann opened up about his wife's struggle with IVF and battle with cancer. Ant will appear throughout the auditions, which will run on TV until the end of May. However, he will likely be absent from the full week of live shows, with Dec set to front the show alone.
