Avengers Endgame

An incredible achievement for an incredible movie.

Since its release, Avengers: Endgame has been smashing records left, right and centre.

And for good reason too. The movie represents the culmination of a movie franchise that has lasted over 10 years, and almost 48 hours worth of films.

So if you were even partly invested in the saga so far, chances are you would want to go see Endgame to see how the whole thing finishes.

And if you haven’t seen it yet, it seems as though you are definitely in the minority…

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Avengers: Endgame is now the second-highest-grossing film of all time with $2.189 billion.

The top-grossing film of all time is James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster Avatar, which earned $2.8 billion at the global box office, so Endgame is hot on its tails.

While the movie is absolutely smashing records worldwide, it is doing the exact same in Ireland too.

Here are just some of the box office records that Endgame has crushed since its release:

  • It has Ireland’s biggest opening weekend ever, making a total of €4.46 million.
  • It’s now the highest grossing opening day of all time at the Irish box office.
  • The UK and Ireland’s biggest opening weekend ever with £43.4 million.
  • It made global box office history, becoming the first film to surpass $1 billion in its debut weekend, taking in a whopping $1.2 billion worldwide.
