Steve Coogan believes he and The White Lotus will make for a "good fit", following the announcement that he has been cast in its upcoming fourth season.
The legendary English-Irish actor spoke to JOE on the red carpet for the IFTA Awards, where he was nominated in the Best Lead Actor - Film category for playing former Ireland football manager Mick McCarthy in Saipan.
His Saipan co-star Éanna Hardwicke, who played Roy Keane in the sports drama, wound up taking home the prize.
While speaking to Coogan, JOE had to ask him about joining The White Lotus universe.
JOE noted to Coogan similarities between his work and White Lotus creator Mike White's work. As such, we asked the actor if he had been a fan of the series and of White before being cast in season four.
Here's what he responded:
"I loved it. I watched the first two series of White Lotus, and then when I found out I got the part in this fourth series, I watched the third series.
"Yeah, I watched it as a punter like everyone else. I used to think: 'Wow, what a great, great series. I'd love to be part of that,' and, [Mike White] knocked on my door and asked me to come on.
"But creatively, I like the fact that he treads that line between things that are painful and emotional and also funny.
"That hinterland between comedy and tragedy is definitely something I'm attracted to, and I often try to do myself.
"So I feel like... I hope and think it'll be a good fit."

The White Lotus is an anthology comedy-drama with thriller elements.
It revolves around the titular fictional resort hotel chain, with each season focusing on the guests and staff at a different White Lotus location worldwide.
An opening flash-forward scene of every season reveals that an unidentified character has died.
This is before the series goes back in time one week, slowly building up to the circumstances of the killing over several episodes.
Alongside Coogan, the cast of the upcoming season four includes AJ Michalka (Super 8), Alexander Ludwig (Vikings), Ari Graynor (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), Chris Messina (Air), Helena Bonham Carter (Fight Club) and Sandra Bernhard (Severance).
S4 will be filmed and set in southern France, following previous seasons that took place in Hawaii, Italy and Thailand.
