Bad news for fans of TFI Friday as Chris Evans moves on to Top Gear

Tony Cuddihy

There are no plans to revive TFI Friday on full-time basis after the show’s successful return in 2015.

Host Chris Evans will move on to Top Gear in 2016, meaning that the popular Channel 4 show – which originally aired between 1996 and 2000 and returned for ten episodes in the Autumn – will be parked indefinitely.

“TFI was only ever envisaged as a one-off series,” PA quotes a TFI Friday source as saying.

“There have been some preliminary conversations about the potential for it to return but timing difficulties on both sides mean that there are no plans for TFI to come back.”

Top Gear will return in May, with main host Evans reportedly working alongside German racing driver Sabine Schmitz, journalist Chris Harris and F1 driver David Coulthard.
