Bad news Game Of Thrones fans, you might be in for a LONG wait for that final season

We've all been very excited about the imminent arrival of the penultimate season, but once that's over, it could be a few winters before we get the next one...

Ever since the trailer dropped for Season 7, we've all been dissecting it for every single little piece of information we could possibly get from it.

Plus there was the new that there were no less than FIVE prequels in the works, but first we have to get through the version of Game Of Thrones that we're all currently dying to see.

The first episode of Season 7 will debut on 16 July, and will be 59 minutes long without any ad-breaks, making it one of the longest episodes of the show to date, so we imagine it is gonna be pretty epic.

However, EW were talking to HBO programming president Casey Bloys who revealed that the eighth and final season may not be along in 2018:

“They [creators/writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss] have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing."

EW asked the HBO-honcho if they would allow a two-year gap between the seasons, and he said yes, all in the name of keeping the show as great as potentially possible, and he also answered questions about the potential prequels in the works:

“Making Game of Thrones as good as possible is the No. 1 goal, and then we’ll see about these scripts. You’re not going to see a situation where the next show in the Thrones universe launches off the back of this one. The show that Dan and David have created will get its proper send off first. We wouldn’t want to take away from that in any way."

With the seventh season only having seven episodes (it will be finished by 27 August), and the eighth season set to have only six episodes, best make the most of them while we've still got them!
