Big news for the rising star.
We’re fans of Barry Keoghan here at JOE.
He’s an actor that generally steals most of the scenes he’s in, and he also boasts the unique honour of being the very first guest on Ireland Unfiltered.
Very much in demand in Hollywood these days, the Dublin native has made no secret of his desire to one day play Nightwing, and while we’re still waiting for that to come together, he is set for superhero-based action.
Following the news that Kit Harington has joined the Marvel revolution comes the reveal that Keoghan has joined the cast of The Eternals, which is scheduled to hit cinemas next year.
Keoghan was unveiled at the Disney D23 Expo in California on Saturday evening. He’ll be playing the character of Druig, whose traits include superhuman speed and strength, accelerated healing, flight and teleportation.
Not bad.
Harington is also on board, playing the role of non-Eternal Dane Whitman.
The rest of the cast includes Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Bryan Tyree Henry and Gemma Chan, who appeared in Captain Marvel but is seemingly playing a different character.
For the uninitiated, The Eternals will focus on an immortal alien race – that would be the Eternals – that is sent to Earth to protect humanity from the Deviants, their villainous counterparts.
Directed by Chloé Zhao, the movie arrives on 6 November, 2020.
