BBC’s new serial killer drama will definitely please Luther fans

Paul Moore

While we wait for Luther, this will do very nicely.

While Idris Elba makes us wait for the next season of Luther, fans of Neil Cross’ show might fancy taking a look at Killing Eve in the meantime.

The show is written by Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge and it revolves around two very distinct women. One’s a  psychopathic assassin and the other is a brilliant MI6 agent. Both are tasked with the same deadly mission: Find Her.

Eve (Sandra Oh) is a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfill her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle (Jodie Comer) is a mercurial, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her. What happens when two equally driven people go head-to-head in a deadly game of cat and mouse?

Having watched the first trailer, the relationship between both characters is very similar to the strange one that exists in Luther between Idris Elba’s DCI and Ruth Wilson’s cold-blooded killer, Alice Morgan.

On top of this, you also have a series of gory murderers and a mysterious plot that’s just waiting to be solved.

Fiona Shaw, David Haig, Kim Bodnia, Darren Boyd, Sean Delaney, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Owen McDonnell co-star in the series.

At present, Killing Eve is slated to premiere on April 8 at 8/7c on BBC America, but we expect it to air sooner in the UK and Ireland.

Here’s a taste of what’s in store.
