Movies on TV

Get back indoors and watch a film!

Just kidding, we don’t have the kind of power to make you do that. It is good advice, though, and especially tonight. There are some great films on. Take a look.

Ted – 9pm – ITV2

Seth MacFarlane stars as a sentient stuffed bear who has the personality of Peter Griffin. Also starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. It’s a comedy, in case that isn’t clear.

The Danish Girl – 9.45pm – RTÉ 2

Alicia Vikander turns in an Oscar-worthy performance alongside Eddie Redmayne, who was also nominated for Best Actor following this role as Lili Elbe, one of the first known recipients of sex reassignment surgery.

Rambo – 10pm – Dave

Rambo is somehow the fourth Rambo movie in the Rambo franchise. This is the one from 2008.

The Shining – 11.20pm – BBC One NI

The perfect horror film. Jack Nicholson is driven to murder by a haunted hotel. Based on the Stephen King novel and directed by Stanley Kubrick.

For a Few Dollars More – 11.20pm – BBC Two NI

Clint Eastwood in what is perhaps is most famous role: a bounty hunter in the wild, wild west. It’s films like this that we think of when we think of classic westerns.

Almost Famous – 12.35am – RTÉ One

A hip movie about young music journalist who follows a band on tour, falls in love with the scene and ends up suffering through a lot of drama. Great soundtrack.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
