movies on TV

It’s Thursday.

We’re closing in on the weekend and even though the weather isn’t promised great today, there’s still some good movies on TV to sink your teeth into.

There’s a wide selection and more than one good horror movie on TV so if you fancy a scare, you’re in a bit of luck.

Here’s the pick of what’s on.

The Day the Earth Stood Still – Film4 – 6.55pm

Keanu Reeves was making this type of movie before John Wick revived his career.

The Babadook – SyFy – 9pm

A terrifying horror which relies more on genuine horror rather than cheap jump scares.

Dirty Dancing – Comedy Central – 9pm

Apparently, nobody puts baby in a corner.

Get Out – Film4 – 9pm

Jordan Peele is a good director.

Land Without God – RTÉ One – 10.10pm

An intimate portrait of a family coming to terms with decades of institutional abuse, and the impact it has had and continues to have on their lives.

The Magnificent Seven – ITV4 – 10pm

Outlaws band together to protect a town.

It’s the remake of a remake, so there’s no surprises in this heavy-handed attempt to capture the original’s magic.

40 Days and 40 Nights – Comedy Central – 11pm

A man vows to remain celibate during Lent.

Another egregious early noughties comedy to add to the list.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
