Blade almost had a prequel film and the plot was pretty interesting

Paul Moore

Blade

“Some motherf**kers are always trying to ice skate uphill.”

Ready to feel old? Sink your teeth into this little factoid. On August 21, it will be 20 years since Blade made one of – if not THE – greatest introductions in the history of comic-book films.

Techno thumping. Blood raining. Vampires gathering. Hope fading. Blade’s standing.

Like a cool as fuck guardian of the night, Wesley Snipes’ character looked on, reached for his shotgun and started to unleash hell in a flurry of silver bullets, kung-fu, metallic stakes and his trusty sword.

FYI, the fact that he refuses to even look up and acknowledge the evil around him just makes this whole scene even cooler.

This scene is fantastic but those moments from 2:00-3:00 are cooler than the other side of Pirlo’s pillow.

As we know, any good hero is only as good as the villain that he’s fighting and Stephen Dorff’s performance as Deacon FRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSTT (said in Blade’s best shouting voice) was a joy to behold.

Aside from chewing on every scene (pardon the pun), laying the smackdown and tormenting Blade and his mother, Frost’s ice-cold demeanour and sadistic streak made him a formidable foe.

To commemorate 20 years of Blade, EW got the cast to reunite and talk about working on Stephen Norrington’s film and Dorff revealed that there were plans to give his character a prequel film.

“You know, at one point we wanted to do a $20-30 million prequel with Frost, a gangster vampire movie set in New York City that would have been awesome. But there was so much drama between New Line and Marvel about who owned the rights,” he said.

Now that Marvel rule the world, we’ve previously argued that now is the perfect time for the Daywalker to return. A potential prequel with Frost?

Make. It. Happen.
