One of the best Western movies of the 21st century is on TV tonight

It's a cult classic, even if it's definitely not for the squeamish.

Bone Tomahawk was the directorial debut of author S. Craig Zahler, who would go on to helm the acclaimed cult thrillers Brawl in Cell Block 99 and Dragged Across Concrete.

Carrying over his novelistic, rich eye for character and detail into cinema, his debut film begins as an exciting, funny men-on-a-mission Western. That's before it makes a sharp turn in its final stretch into absolutely nerve-shredding horror.

Upon release, the movie received rave reviews from critics, as evidenced by its high 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes. That said, the Western's latter section is definitely not for the squeamish.

Bone Tomahawk is airing on TV tonight/tomorrow morning on Film4 at 12.30am. It is also available to rent on Apple TV for 99c.
