EXCLUSIVE: Bradley Cooper tells us what inspired the most magic moment of A Star Is Born

Rory Cashin

In case you’re wondering, yes, he is just as lovely as you’d imagine.

We’ve known for a while now that Bradley Cooper is a very accomplished actor – he’s been nominated for Best Actor twice (American Sniper, Silver Linings Playbook), and nominated for Best Supporting Actor (American Hustle) – but he has made quite a transition for his first time as a director.

We were completely blown away by how good A Star Is Born is (our review here), and Cooper pulls quintuple duty on the movie – star, director, co-writer, producer, and performer of many of the movie’s songs – and it is nothing short of staggering how well he performs them all.

JOE were lucky enough to get the Irish Exclusive interview with him, and it was next to impossible not to spend the entire just telling him how great he was!

Instead, we managed to compose ourselves, and talk about everything from his first meeting with Lady Gaga (in which he makes an amazing comparison to Clint Eastwood), the movie most likely to make him cry, an incredible comparison of one scene which took direct influence from Martin Scorsese, and his amazing supporting cast, from Sam Elliott, to Andrew Dice Clay, to Dave Chappelle, to RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Shangela and Willam!

We also chatted about what it would take for him to direct Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3 (full details on that here), and why it is likely he’d turn it down.

Check out our full interview with the man himself right here:

In the meantime, you can check out the full trailer for A Star Is Born below, and the movie arrives in Irish cinemas on Wednesday 5 October:
