One of the best spy thriller movies of the 21st century is on TV tonight

Holding an 83% Rotten Tomatoes score, the film does not appear to be available to rent or stream, so now is the time to check it out.

Co-written and directed by Billy Ray (Overlord, Shattered Glass), the film revolves around Eric O'Neill (played by Ryan Phillippe, Cruel Intentions), a low-level surveillance expert with the FBI.

O'Neill believes his dream of being a full-fledged agent is finally becoming a reality when he is given an unexpected promotion and assignment to work with the renowned agent Robert Hanssen (Oscar-winner Chris Cooper, Adaptation).

"However, he soon learns the reason for his promotion is to gain Hanssen's trust and find proof that he is a traitor to the country," the plot synopsis adds.

Co-starring the great Laura Linney (Ozark), Breach's cat-and-mouse thrills, its moody atmosphere of intrigue, and its absolutely haunting central turn by Cooper make it one of the very best spy thrillers of the century.

With an 83% Rotten Tomatoes score, the movie is airing on TV tonight on RTÉ One at 11.45pm.

According to the app JustWatch, Breach is currently not available to rent or stream in Ireland, but it may be accessible to watch on the RTÉ Player after it airs.
