Brendan O’Carroll has a plan for replacing Rory Cowan in Mrs Brown’s Boys

We guess they're just characters, it doesn't have to be believable.

We guess it doesn’t really have to be plausible…

Rory Cowan handed in his notice to Brendan O’Carroll in June this year but stayed on to finish the live tour of Mrs Brown’s Boys in London.

The actor, who played Agnes’ son Rory, completed his final show at the O2 in London.

It’s understood that O’Carroll had been struggling to think of a way to replace Cowan in the show, and it was revealed recently that Pat ‘Pepsi’ Shields (who plays Mark in the show) would take over the role of Rory for the remainder of their lives shows in November and December.

But this was just a short term solution with a new Rory expected to be put in place for the Christmas special this year.

According to The Irish Sun, O’Carroll was keen to keep a similar character to Rory and had a solution.

“He was really keen to keep the same camp character but played by a new actor,” a source told The Irish Sun.

“A plastic surgery storyline where Rory ends up with a new face was the perfect answer.”

The Christmas special will feature Rory and he will have his face bandaged for the beginning of the show post surgery, and the new Rory will be revealed later in the episode, when the bandages are removed.
