Dublin’s Unitarian Church has announced something that’s already made our Christmases – and it’s not even December yet.
The 19th-century church on St Stephen’s Green West will be showing classics such as Elf, Home Alone 1, Home Alone 2 and Muppets Christmas Carol on a large screen right at the altar.
The Christmas movie season is being hosted by The Pictures and will be available for all to enjoy on Friday, 15 December and Saturday, 16 December.
Louis Scully, a promoter for the Christmas movie season at the Unitarian Church, spoke to JOE about what’s in store for Christmas film fanatics:
“Papa Lou is a DJ and event promoter. He promotes music & film events most weekends in Dublin. The Pictures is his series that specialise in movie screenings taking place in unique locations. This December 15 & 16 the stunning 19th-century Unitarian church on St Stephen’s Green will be transformed into a cinema for some classic Christmas screenings like no other.
“Home Alone 1 & 2, ELF and The Muppet Christmas Carol will be shown on a state of the art projector, on a large cinema-style screen, in this beautiful, fully heated church. Tickets only €7.50–€12 but always sell out in advance, so don’t hesitate booking yours now if any of this sounds appealing!”
Louis also informed us that he’s off to Lebanon for January to volunteer working with children in various different grassroots organisations. He’ll be using the profits from his events to fund this trip, giving you the satisfaction that your money is being put to good use.
Christmas films and saving the world all in one – not too shabby.
As for dates and times, the films will be screened as follows:
- Home Alone 1 – Friday, 6pm
- Home Alone 2 – Friday, 8pm
- Muppets Christmas Carol – Saturday, 6pm
- Elf – Saturday, 8pm
Tickets for separate movies can be bought here and are priced from €10 (plus a booking fee).
