Clive Owen to play Bill Clinton on the next American Crime Story

Clive Owen Bill Clinton

Good call?

Clive Owen – he of Children of Men, Shoot ‘Em Up, Sin City, The Bourne Identity and never actually getting to play James Bond fame – is set to step into the shoes of Bill Clinton.

Owen will portray the controversial former US President as part of the forthcoming third season of American Crime Story, which thus far has focused on OJ Simpson’s trial and the murder of fashion mogul Gianni Versace.

Impeachment: American Crime Story will star The People v. O.J. Simpson star Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, along with Booksmart star Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones.

Monica Lewinsky herself will help produce the series, which will hold added weight given the constant discussion around a potential impeachment of current US President Donald Trump.

Deadline confirms that Owen is officially on board, with filming set to get underway in late March.

“We do a show that is very thoroughly fact-checked and vetted and based on bestselling books by Jeffrey Toobin,” show creator Ryan Murphy told Deadline earlier in the week.

“I think the reason why it’s interesting is because you don’t have to change anything to feel modern. And I think that idea of impeachment obviously with Trump is fascinating. I wouldn’t say that we’re changing things that much or mentioning Trump at all in our narrative.”
