Our TV movie pick for tonight (Wednesday, 27 May) is Dark Waters, a 2019 legal thriller based on true events.
As the attorney dives deep into the case, he exposes a lengthy history of pollution, one that impacts not just the health of livestock but also that of people.
Thanks to the movie's urgent subject matter, its horror-tinged atmosphere conjured by director Todd Haynes (Carol, May December), and its hugely empathetic lead performances by Camp and Ruffalo, Dark Waters earned rave reviews and currently boasts a whopping 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
JOE is also recommending the movie; however, because it deserves a much larger audience, having sadly only garnered less than $25 million at the box office upon its release.
Co-starring Anne Hathaway (Interstellar), Bill Pullman (The Boroughs), Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption) and Victor Garber (Titanic), Dark Waters is airing on TV tonight on BBC Two at 11.30pm.
It is also available to rent on Apple TV, Google Play, Prime Video, Rakuten TV and the Sky Store.
