“I don’t really care. I just want the budget to work.”

It’s been something of a stellar year for Dermot Bannon and his homemaking series, Room To Improve, what with each of his renovations setting social media alight every Sunday.

To end the series’ successful fourth season, he is going back through a few of his favourite and most memorable moments over the past years, revisiting everything from combative celebrity clients to the burden of a budget for this special episode.

However, tonight he is paying tribute to the overlooked work of his quantity surveyors, otherwise known as the only people seemingly capable of keeping his visions grounded.

“Most of the time they make me feel like a naughty school kid,” he quips in the new preview for tonight’s episode.

Tune in to see him look back too on other highlights, including the infamous rotting Maynooth coach house and his effort to transform an old Dun Laoighaire lock up into something habitable.

Room to Improve is on RTÉ One tonight (Sunday, 8 April) at 9.30pm.
