The release dates for the next Star Wars Trilogy have also been released.

Following the closure of the Disney-Fox deal, all eyes were on what Disney would actually do with the Fox properties, considering The Mouse House now owns the rights to Alien, Die Hard, Predator… basically all of the cool “adult” franchises.

On Tuesday evening, Disney released their upcoming release slate for 2020, 2021, and 2022, and while none of those aforementioned franchises get mentioned, there are some particular highlights that movie fans will want to know about.

First and foremost, there are EIGHT new Marvel movies incoming.

After the events of Endgame, all we knew for sure was that Spider-Man: Far From Home was out this July, and after that, it was anyone’s guess.

Technically, that is still somewhat true, as all of the slated projects are currently named “Untitled Marvel”, with nothing to go on but their release dates: May 2020, November 2020, February 2021, May 2021, November 2021, February 2022, May 2022, and August 2022.

Considering that Disney now own the rights to the X-Men, Deadpool, and the Fantastic Four, don’t be surprised to see some of those taking up those slots.

Additionally, the release dates for the next Star Wars Trilogy (set to be directed entirely by The Last Jedi’s Rian Johnson) have also been announced: December in 2022, 2024, and 2026. That will give fans a full three years to get their excitement up to max levels again after this December’s The Rise Of Skywalker.

And the other big news is that the Avatar movies have now been pushed back even further, as we won’t get the first sequel until December 2021, with the rest coming in December 2023, 2025, and 2027.

Yep, Disney are going to own Christmas for the guts of the next decade.

After that, the notable stuff is as follows: the Channing Tatum-starring Gambit movie has been removed from the release schedule entirely, the Kingsman prequel is arriving on Valentine’s Day in 2020, and the Emma Stone-starring origin story for Cruella DeVil is arriving in December 2020.

Indiana Jones 5 will hit cinemas in July 2021, and interestingly, there are four Untitled Pixar projects on the slate, but only two of them are named “Untitled Pixar Animation”, and the other two are named “Untitled Pixar”.
