Disney+ has just added 22 very big movies to its library

Rory Cashin

Including one of the biggest box office hits of all time.

Disney+ revealed its full line-up of new movies and shows arriving on the platform throughout June, but to kick the month off, they’ve added a very impressive list of some classic (and also some brand new) releases to its library.

Starting with…

BIG MOMMA’S HOUSE TRILOGY

None of these are good, but here they are.

BRUCE ALMIGHTY

God himself (played by Morgan Freeman) grants one over-complaining man (Jim Carrey) his powers to see if he can run the world any better. The highest of high-concept comedies.

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Not the Sarah Michelle Gellar series, but the original 1992 teen-comedy-horror that the show was based on.

A CURE FOR WELLNESS

The director of The Ring has another go with the horror genre, in this interesting but very long (146 minutes) psychological thriller set within a remote wellness spa.

DAREDEVIL

Ben Affleck’s take on the blind vigilante is the most 2003 superhero movie imaginable.

FIRE ISLAND

A gay reimagining of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. We chatted to the cast and director, and you can check out those interviews right here:

GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN

Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie star in this emotional biopic about the author and creator of Winnie The Pooh.

GUESS WHO

Bernie Mac, Zoe Saldana and Ashton Kutcher star in this retelling of the 1967 comedy classic Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner?

JFK

Oliver Stone’s epic dive into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy featuring an incredible all-star cast.

JUMPER

Hayden Christensen headlines this action-thriller about a young man who has the power to teleport, but an entire secret agency has been sent to kill him and others with his powers. We recently caught up with Hayden himself for his return to the role of Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and you can check out that interview right here:

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

Christian Bale, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sam Rockwell, Stanley Tucci and Anna Friel star in this 1999 adaptation of Shakespeare’s fantasy rom-com.

PATTI CAKES

A bit of a hidden gem when it was released in cinemas a few years ago, it tells the story of a woman (Danielle Macdonald) who dreams of becoming a rap superstar.

PRIDE

A great little LGBTQI+ movie, this time telling the true story of a group of gay activists who decide to support the miners who went on strike in Thatcher’s Britain in 1984. The movie stars Bill Nighy, George Mackay, Imelda Staunton, Paddy Considine, Andrew Scott and Dominic West.

THE SIXTH SENSE

One of the most successful horror movies of all time, with stellar performances from Haley Joel Osmond, Bruce Willis and Toni Collette.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

Danny Boyle’s multiple Oscar-winning drama about a teenager (Dev Patel) from Mumbai who uses his life experiences to win the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

THIS BOY’S LIFE

A young boy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his mother (Ellen Barkin) move in with a man (Robert De Niro) only to discover he is quite abusive, so they make a plan to escape from him.

TITANIC

DiCaprio again, but this time paired with Kate Winslet, for one of the biggest movies of all time.

THE TRANSPORTER & THE TRANSPORTER 2

Statham drives cars and sometimes kicks people in the face in these stupid but very entertaining action movies.

WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER?

Anna Faris and Chris Evans star in this rom-com that is neither particularly romantic or comedic.
