While we’re only in April, it’s nearly a certainty that the best movie of the year has already been released.
We are, of course, talking about Dune: Part Two, and even a month after its release, we still can’t stop thinking about how good it is.
The news not many were expecting so soon is that the behemoth sci-fi sequel will be available for Video On Demand (VOD) streaming on April 16.
That means that you can shout “Lisan Al-Gaib!” at the TV in the comfort of your own home from next week, when the movie arrives for purchase or rental on digital streaming sites like Amazon, AppleTV, YouTube and Google Play.
The film will also be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD from May 14.
Dune: Part Two is coming to streaming earlier than expected
Of course, there is also a chance that Dune: Part Two could be released on other streaming services later on in the year.
There is precedent with that too, as Warner Bros. licensed out Dune: Part One to Netflix earlier this year. It wouldn’t be a surprise if that same situation occurs for the sequel some time down the line.

Starring Timothée Chalamet alongside an incredible cast including Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista and Christopher Walken, Dune: Part Two has made a whopping $665 million so far at the box office.
Picking up immediately from the events of 2021’s Part One, the sequel sees Chalamet’s Paul Atreides continue in his fight to bring the native Fremen together and defeat the evil House Harkonnen.

In more good news, last week it was confirmed that a third film is officially in development. Called Dune: Messiah, the movie will be based on the second novel in the series by Frank Herbert.
The upcoming film will pick up a couple of years after the end of the last movie, with Paul even more powerful than before but troubled by new and mysterious threats.
Dune: Messiah will also feature bigger roles for characters introduced in the second film, including Florence Pugh‘s Princess Irulan and Anya Taylor-Joy’s brief appearance as Alia.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly recently, director Villeneuve said: “I would love to make Dune Messiah just to work with [Anya] and Florence more. Those actresses are so inspiring. They give me chills and the will to do another one.”
